SOMEWHERE TO DISAPPEAR
The festival is delighted to welcome Alec Soth to the 2015 edition, and is hosting a special screening of Somewhere to Disappear, a documentary that follows Soth on a journey of photographic discovery around the United States during his project, Broken Manual.
In order to write a guide on how to disappear in America, Soth embarked on a research trip. We follow him on this search for people who live on the margins of society and find peace as modern day hermits outside the familiar cultural norms.
Directed by Laure Flammarion and Arnaud Uyttenhove, the film captures Soth during the preliminary stages of his project and offers a unique perspective on the individuals within his photographs and shines a new light on the cliches and contradictions of the USA.
A Q&A with Alec Soth will follow the film.
